ATTORNEYS BOLIN AND BROWN SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND CLIENT IN WRONGFUL DEATH CASE
TAMPA, FL - March, 2008 - Andrew M. Brown and Andrew S. Bolin obtained a complete defense verdict on behalf of their client after a one week wrongful death medical malpractice trial in Citrus County, Florida. The Plaintiffs alleged that an emergency room physician was negligent in his decision to discharge a patient who presented complaining of chest pain radiating into the left arm and neck. Mr. Brown and Mr. Bolin argued that the physician's examination met the standard of care and that the physician could rely on the multiple cardiac test results, which were normal, to make his decision to discharge the patient for follow up care on an outpatient basis. The Plaintiff's demand in the case was $2.5 million dollars.

TAMPA, FL - December 11, 2007 - Macfarlane Ferguson & McMullen is pleased to announce that Andrew S. Bolin and Jeffrey W. Gibson have been named shareholders of the firm.
Andrew S. Bolin focuses his practice in the areas of Medical Malpractice, Professional Liability, Business Litigation, and Premises Liability. Mr. Bolin received his law degree from Stetson University College of Law, J.D. cum laude, in 2002. He was named "Young Lawyer of the Year" in 2006 by the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA), and selected as Chairperson of the FDLA Professional Liability Committee for a two year term (2007-2009).
Jeffrey W. Gibson earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Tampa in 1998, and was awarded his law degree, with honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2001. Mr. Gibson's practice focuses on Business Litigation, Labor & Employment Law and Medical Malpractice.

Each year the USC Law School Alumni Association recognizes nine outstanding alumni at the Dinner who have made significant contributions to the legal profession and who exemplify the highest standard of professional competence, ethics and integrity. Other honorees at the Dinner include Chief Justice Jean Toal, Supreme Court of South Carolina and Honorable Karen Williams, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Mark E. McLaughlin has been appointed to serve as an investigative member on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. Mr. McLaughlin began his service on March 1, 2007 and will serve through February 28, 2010. The function of the grievance committee is to attempt to ascertain, to the extent reasonably possible, all facts relating to the grievances referred to it by The Florida Bar. The grievance committee acts upon complaints forwarded by bar counsel, and may find no probable cause for further disciplinary proceedings, probable cause for further disciplinary proceedings, minor misconduct, or diversion to a practice and professionalism enhancement program.

Carolyn House Stewart was the
keynote speaker for Hillsborough County's 15th Annual Black History Celebration
held on February 9, 2007. The theme of the program was " African American
Women ~ Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." She was honored by the Hillsborough
County Board of County Commissions for her contributions to the African-
American community in a Proclamation.

Jr., became President of the Florida Academy of Health Care Lawyers at the
annual meeting of the Florida Hospital Association in Orlando. The Florida
Academy of Health Care Lawyers is a division of the Florida Hospital
Association.
Mr. Martin is a shareholder in the firm’s Clearwater
office. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1973 and has over 30 years of
trial experience in the areas of medical malpractice, labor & employment and
business litigation. He has been a member of the Florida Academy of Health Care
Lawyers since 1995 and previously served as Secretary and President-Elect. He
is also a member of the American Hospital Association, a former Board Member of
American Health Lawyers Association, National Health Lawyers Association and the

STEWART RECEIVES FLORIDA COMMISSION ON STATUS OF WOMEN
AWARD
Sept. 11, 2006. TAMPA, FL. -- Macfarlane Ferguson & McMullen is pleased to
announce that Carolyn House Stewart has been honored with the Florida Commission
on Status of Women (FCSW) Achievement Award for her outstanding contributions
and service. She is a shareholder of the firm and practices law in the Tampa
office in the areas of labor & employment law, personal injury, eminent domain,
insurance defense, commercial litigation and products liability. Ms. Stewart,
who is one of the few African-American women partners in a majority law firm in
the United States, has made countless contributions to the community. She was
recently elected International First Vice President (President-Elect) of the
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., an international service organization of
170,000 college trained women founded in 1908 on the campus of Howard
University. Under her guidance as program chair, the Sorority completed many
diverse service projects, including raising funds for Sickle Cell research,
awarding scholarships, mentoring over 15,000 at-risk children and funding and
building 10 schools in South Africa. Ms. Stewart also worked diligently to
obtain a $100,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to promote
vehicle occupant safety in the African American Community and has participated
in SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) Awareness initiatives. Macfarlane
Ferguson and McMullen has supported her efforts in her community service
endeavors, including donations to the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha's
Senior Citizens Holiday Dinner, George Edgecomb Bar Association Annual Law Day
Scholarship Banquet as a heritage sponsor, and supported the National Bar
Association (NBA) Annual Meeting in 2005 where Ms. Stewart served as Convention
Co-Chair.

BOLIN SELECTED TO CO-AUTHOR AMICUS
BRIEF
07/17/06 – TAMPA. Andrew S. Bolin, an associate with the
law firm of Macfarlane Ferguson & McMullen, was selected by the Florida Defense
Lawyers Association (FDLA) to co-author an amicus curiae brief with FDLA
President, Gail Leverett Parenti in Florida Hospital Waterman, Inc. v. Buster,
in support of the hospital. The brief submitted to the Florida Supreme Court
addresses issues involving the recently enacted Amendment 7 to the Florida
Constitution (“Patient’s Right to Know”) pertaining to discovery in medical
malpractice litigation. Mr. Bolin received his J.D., cum laude, from
Stetson University College of Law in 2002. He practices in the areas of medical
malpractice, products liability, premises liability, and personal injury
